Food: Feed each spring
Grapes, tomatoes, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, eggplant, kohlrabi, mustard, peppers, potatoes, rhubarb, roses, squash, and strawberries.
Sow seed 1cm deep, cover the seed lightly with soil as they germinate in darkness. Keep in a warm spot and be sure to water the soil so it remains moist.
When plants have filled a container, either move into a slightly larger pot or lift the plant out and divide the rootball using a sharp knife, replanting into two separate pots.
Be sure to deadhead spent flowers and clear debris when the chives die back in late autumn.

To keep plants productive, remove spent flowers or use the bright young blooms in salads. Cut leaves as needed with scissors, snipping close to the base of the plant. Get into the right rhythm as cutting will produce more leaves.
