How to Grow

Dahlia 'Pompone Mixed' seeds are best started indoors between February and May, where warmth and moisture encourage germination. Once seedlings are established and the risk of frost has passed, transplant them to balconies, containers, or garden beds for vibrant pompon-shaped flowers.

  • Sowing

Sow the seeds about 3mm deep in a small tray filled with compost, then cover with a clear container to maintain humidity, placing it on a warm windowsill to promote germination. Consistent warmth during this early stage is essential for successful sprouting.

  • Growing

After seedlings emerge, pot them on and harden off before planting out in containers around 40 cm in size or garden beds, ensuring enough space for their colourful blooms. Support is generally not necessary as the plants look after themselves and suit balconies and borders well.

  • Plant care

Water the plants regularly during the growing months from June to September, keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continuous blooming throughout the season and maintain their attractive appearance.
