How to Sow Your Seeds

Start these annual flower posy seeds outdoors in well-drained soil on terraces, containers or garden beds where they can enjoy plenty of sunlight. They look after themselves once established, making them ideal for effortless growing from March to May or August to October. Sow directly where they are to bloom beautifully from May through September.

  • Sowing

Sow the seeds directly on top of compact, moist soil in a warm, sunny spot as they require light to germinate. Keep the soil moist during germination to encourage strong seedling growth.

  • Growing

Once seedlings are strong enough, thin or transplant them to give each plant space to flourish in a 25 cm pot or garden bed. Support taller varieties like cosmos and poppies as they grow, ensuring they have free-draining soil to thrive through the growing months of May to September.

  • Plant care

Water deeply during dry spells to keep the soil evenly moist, especially in containers or pots. Deadhead regularly to encourage continuous blooming, and pick flowers often since these cut-and-come-again varieties will reward frequent harvesting with more blooms.
