Poppy Mother of Pearl seeds are best sown directly outdoors in a sunny spot where they can thrive with minimal care. These annuals prefer well-drained soil and are suitable for terraces, containers, or garden beds, making them versatile for various outdoor locations.
Sow the seeds directly on the surface of compact, moist soil between March and May or August and October, ensuring they have light exposure to encourage germination. Keeping the soil warm during this period supports successful sprouting.
Once the seedlings have emerged, thin them to avoid overcrowding, allowing enough space for their natural spread within a 25 cm pot size or garden bed. This helps maintain healthy growth throughout the main growing months from May to September.
Water the plants moderately, ensuring the soil remains moist but not waterlogged, especially during dry spells. Deadhead regularly to promote prolonged flowering and consider succession sowing in early spring and late summer to enjoy continuous blooms of these pastel poppy seeds.

Pollinator-friendly and perfect for pots or borders, these poppies thrive in full sun and make lovely cut flowers.

The poppy symbolizes peace and eternal sleep, often seen on remembrance stones. Its delicate blooms have inspired literature and art, including The Wizard of Oz's enchanting poppy field.

Yes — this is a straightforward packet to give, and what makes it work as a gift is mostly timing. Sowing runs March to May, and August to October, so a packet given inside that window can go straight in, and one given outside it keeps perfectly well until the season comes round.
There are approximately 500 seeds in the packet, so there is plenty to share. On effort it looks after itself, which matters if you are giving it to someone new to growing. It suits beds, borders, cut flowers and pollinator-friendly gardens, so it works for a small space as well as a garden.
